Leica finally took the wraps off its "Mini M" compact camera. Now, it is introduced to the world as the Leica X Vario. If the famous German camera is to be believed, the Leica X Vario is first compact camera with APS-C CMOS sensor and fixed zoom lens.
Specs wise, the Vario X packs a 16.6-megapixel CMOS image sensor and offers an 18-46mm zoom as well as f/3.5-6.4 variable aperture. The camera has a 3-inch 920K-dot LCD display on the back, but it does not have any built-in electronic viewfinder. However, Leica will offer an external EVF separately. Other features include a sensitivity range of ISO 100-12500, a built-in flash and hot shoe as well as a solid aluminum/magnesium body.
The Leica Vario X is available for order in the US now. It is priced at $2,850.
